I ordered a new DLG. The Evolution W!
Some may call it an addiction…
Others would call it a hobby!
I’ve been following this thread on RCGroups about a balsa DLG. A balsa DLG?! Yes! The wings and emmpanage are completely made from balsa and ply, the pod is carbon/kevlar, and the boom is carbon. If you know anything about Discus Launch Gliders then you’ll know that most are made from composite materials. That is what drew me in on this build. I wanted to know if it was possible to build a DLG out of balsa or wood and have it survive more than one launch.
It turns out that Traian, the designer of this glider, has come up with a great kit. Early reports point to this being a well thought out kit that is easy to build. I’m not a builder, but the thought of having something so unique got me to put myself on the waiting list. Also, for the cost of $202 shipped the investment isn’t all that bad.
I have yet to get all the parts out of the box to look it all over. The big problem that I’ve run into is that I have my Sbach 342 that I’m building taking up all the workbench space! Ugh!
