Updated: Avalon Wizard MVVM Project

Here’s an updated version of the Avalon Wizard MVVM Project that I posted about a while ago. This newly updated solution contains step navigation along the right hand side. Also, I’ve included a test solution for testing. Just a note, the testing project is pretty rough. I haven’t commented it much as I didn’t really think I’d include it. I have been just using it for internal testing. When I get a moment I’ll go through and explain what I’m testing and how everything works. For now I wanted to touch on a few things that I are in the … Continue reading

My New Family Website

I built a custom website for my family a while ago using ASP.NET. I tried out some cool stuff and even used a bit of Silverlight on it. Since it was also static content updating it sucked. I decided to move it to a WordPress site and give my wife an Editor account on it. Mikey and Andee dawt com Won’t be as awesome as this website. One big change is that I should be cutting down on personal toned posts here. Posts like my headphones or other things that I think are good for general discussion will stay, but … Continue reading

Creating a Git Repo is a Waste of Time

UPDATE I’ve been able to get Gitorious working on CentOS 6. Still some headaches but not nearly as bad as I was having when I first attempted here! Here’s some info on getting CentOS 6 on a Windows Active Directory Domain. Here’s how to setup TortoiseGit and Msysgit after you get LDAP working in Gitorious. Want to throw several hours of your life away and never get them back? Easy. Try setting up a Git repository server. Worst experience ever. I wanted to get (ha; no pun intended) on the Git bandwagon and use it for a project at work and … Continue reading

ESXi Copying a VM Between Two Hosts

UPDATE: If you’re using the odftool.exe and need to use domain accounts read my update here. I manage a bunch of TFS servers that live on consumer grade hardware. This means that I have to be very good on backups and I also need to be on the lookout for better hardware. I recently purchased some more RAM for a machine that I have sitting around. It was hosting some development VMs; nothing that required a large amount of RAM. I did have a TFS build server that ended up having a bunch of CI builds pointed to it. I decided … Continue reading

Xposed Framework – Proposed Solution

After my post on Google Wallet and the Xposed Framework I’ve done some thinking to see if there was some sort of solution to the security issue that is inherent in the Xposed Framework. It hit me. The answer is kind of obvious. My big gripe with the Xposed Framework is that it operates with impunity. Once a module is added to the white list, either through user interaction or a malicious action, there are no more checks done to insure that the functionality which is being altered is acceptable to the user. With standard root access there is a … Continue reading

Xposed Framework And Google Wallet

It turns out that Google Wallet was updated the other day. I know this because I recently flashed Paranoid Android and had wallet auto-update on me when I was trying to reinstall it. I was able to get it working by removing the Wallet and the update, opening the Play Store, disabling auto-updates, and then re-installing wallet (adb push /system/app). Being on that always wants to be on the bleeding edge I immediately looked around the internet for the latest patched version. The two threads that I follow on XDA relating to wallet seemed to be in a bit of … Continue reading

Fixing USB DAC Issues

So I got this wonderful amp/DAC combo and headphones. Guess what! There is a terrible audio popping while listening to music on my computer! How can this be?! I spent so much money and this DAC is crap! Oh wait, it’s not the DAC. Or the amp. Or the headphones. The first thing I did was Google to see if there was some known issue with the ODAC or Windows 7 and USB Audio. I found this thread on Head-Fi which referenced the ODAC. I also remembered a while ago that I dug out my old SoundBlaster Extigy external sound … Continue reading

O2+ODAC Combo By JDSLabs and Beyerdynamic DT-990 Headphones

As I mentioned in my just posted headphone article I ordered an O2+ODAC Combo from JDSLabs. I’ve now had the amp/DAC combo with my DT-990s for about a week. I’ve been wanting to write a full article about both the amp/DAC and headphones but wanted to give them some time to make an impression. O2+ODAC Combo The O2+ODAC combo from JDS Labs is an awesome little amp and DAC. It’s  very powerful for a little guy. I didn’t opt for the higher impedance headphones so I can’t be 100% accurate in saying that it shouldn’t have trouble driving anything you … Continue reading
